This guy to the power of 10 is what gets to the european parliament by and large from every member state - that, ladies and gentlemen, us why I am voting "No" to Lisbon for the second time around. Seriously, do you think we deserve to be soaked by this kind of inept scum unaccountably at all levels? It's fitting that Ireland, the land of taking corruption laying down, should be the potential keystone of enshrining a systemic lack of accountability to the voters. Question: how do you enslave people? Answer: by giving them the illusion of choice

The expenses issue is even more galling when one sees Government Ministers flying around the country in million dollar helicopters costing 8,000 Euro an hour, landing in plush hotel grounds, and after a five star lunch, going out among the people to tell us that we are living beyond our means.

Just emailed Ned via the Fianna Fail website as he seems bereft of either a site or an email address himself:
"Hi Ned,
I couldn't quite make out your answer on Newstalk yesterday so I thought I'd email you, where you have a chance for some quiet reflection, and ask: do you think it's fair that TDs can claim unvouched for expenses? I look forward to hearing your simply formulated yes or no answer.
Sincerely,
Allan Cavanagh."
Bated breath.
