Mark

Excellent investigation. I have some experience in pension and have looked at the legislation you refered to and I think you are really on the right track. From what I have read however I would say that he is transfered under Section 7 and the FAS Scheme does apply to him. Even if for some obsecure reason he was not under this scheme he would be under his previous one or they would have to set up a new one. Section 8, well what can one say, I agree with you, I think there should be an amendment to allow the golden handshake, it clearly says that it must be in accordance with the scheme. Sure all their explainations at the time made no sense and really smelt of a coverup.

The whole sage of this story is sickening, as A said - it would be great if they were held to account over this one. Keep at it, their responses suggest to me that they are trying to confuse you hoping that you give up. Don't give up.

Also credit has to be given to Catherine Ceitin, we need more people like her to keep this Government in check. She should be on the PAC.

Gavin
Well done! Many readers do not thank you, but they are grateful.

The C&AG are supposedly independent. Why did they not discover the written memo sent to 700 inspectors of taxes preventing them from checking on DIRT operation by the banks? I drew this to the attention of the PAC sub-committee into DIRT. None of the Revenue Commissioners were aware of it, they said!

Ireland has rotted. Sovereignty means nothing if it is sold off to the highest bidder! The sooner the EU govern directly, the better!

There have been so many unexplained happenings at FAS and not even the Public Accounts Committee or the Comptroller and Auditor General seem to have been able to break down theimpenetrable wall of silence surrounding various happenings there. The current Govt. ,for some reason, seems to be either unable or unwilling to tackle the various examples of wastage and profligate spending that has been unearthed . A new Government with a fresh mandate from the people is the only vehicle that stands any chance of properly examining what has been happening there and of ensuring that the current structure is dismantled and replaced by a body that will be fit for purpose.

Would a heavy hint of sarcasm and a comment about golden circles suffice?

Shocking, but unfortunately not surprising reading for just another taxpayer reading this on the one hand with diminished payslip in the other...

Would be great if the government would be held to account some day for this kind of carry on.
